Brian Kramer Productions: Bio

Brian Kramer

My interest in music goes way back. My first band was in high school. At Michigan State University I thought I would follow in my brother's footsteps and become an engineer, but quickly found out that there were other forces pulling me in different directions. I was still pretty technically inclined, so I naturally applied my knowledge in my real passion - music. I received a BA in Media Arts in 2001.

Jebus was formed in 1999. As the drummer for Jebus I honed my musical tastes and styles. I began recording our shows on minidisc, then all of our rehearsals to listen to where we could improve. I then discovered multi-track computer recording and began producing our own material. I also had the opportunity to intern at Harvest Music and Sound Design studios where I could learn, first hand, professional engineering and production techniques.

Jebus split apart in 2003 and I continued playing in various bands for the next couple of years in Lansing, MI. It wasn't until 2004 that I got a job that actually pertained to my degree. I became an audio/video technician and then started looking at the bigger picture.

In March 2005 the AV technician thing transplanted me to Portland, OR where I currently reside. Portland is the candy store for many musical kids like myself. I thrive in the variety and creativity expressed here. There is no shortage of undiscovered talent waiting to be tapped.

So many artists are only displaced from fame by the technical process of recording, which becomes a barrier to their creativity and discovery. It is my public service and also my creative outlet to help artists realize their works in a fixed medium, without the prohibitive price tag.
